Surf Hair Care: Keep those Beachy Strands Healthy

We know the ocean makes the most beautiful natural beachy waves, but when you’re at the beach a lot, like most LoveSurf girls, you’re hair can definitely get damaged. The sun and salt can really do a number on your strands. Here’s a few tips to keep your hair healthy and split end-free at the beach: Pre-Sun Care Use a high SPF sunscreen on your scalp and strands to protect you from getting burnt.  Put coconut oil on the ends before you go in the water, this will protect them from splitting   Wet your hair before getting in the water to keep you hair from absorbing salt water Post-Sun Care If you can, rinse with fresh water as soon as you get out of the ocean. As soon as you get out of the water spray with some type of nourishing treatment (Leave-in conditioner will work fine) Rinse with a cleansing shampoo, or because we prefer using natural products whenever we can, rinse your hair with Apple cider Vinegar after shampooing. Put coconut oil on the ends (not to much or your hair will go greasy) And don’t forget to use a deep conditioning treatment or hair mask once a week. Products …

LoveSurf Girl: Anna Ehrgott

Bio: I’ve always been drawn to the outdoors. It started off as a love for hiking, camping, being around boats and spending lots of time road tripping down to Baja. When I was 8 I started surfing and it quickly consumed my life. Nothing seems to be as pure and simple as surfing and it was a way to tie all my interests together. I’m 22 now and still feel the same way about being in the water. Q: What is it about you that makes you a LoveSurf Girl? A: Lovesurf is a brand for active gals who are grounded by a love of the ocean and the outdoors. It caters to women who prioritize health, style and happiness. As a surfer, model and serial hobbyist I want to be a part of the visions Lovesurf has in store. Q: What is a typical week for you? Do you follow a strict training routine? A: I find adventure and fun in straying away from having any type of routine. I like the excitement of being somewhere new and doing something different every week. For the most part that includes surfing, hiking, camping, sewing, and surf photography. Living this way …

Meet LoveSurf’s Retail Designer + Marketing Manager Kayla Kipling

With the opening of our first retail location in sunny San Clemente, California, we wanted to make sure the LoveSurf lifestyle was reflected in our store design. Our Marketing Manager and Retail Designer Kayla Kipling took inspiration from her hometown of the Big Island of Hawai’i and created the perfect beachy vibe throughout the store. She brought the outdoors in, by adding natural touches like tropical plants, delicate sea shell chandeliers and an oversized palm photograph image as an accent wall.  Take a peek at how Kayla transformed our space into a tropical getaway and don’t forget to stop by! When did your interest in interior design start? My initial interest in interior design started when I was in middle school.  My parents have built two custom homes in Kona, Hawai’i (where I am from), and I grew up around the home design process.  I remember watching all the design shows on HGTV when I came home from school, instead of watching kids shows (weird, huh?) In both of our homes, my parents let me pick out the paint colors for the whole house, pick out lighting fixtures, etc. (which I’m surprised they trusted my ideas at such a young age haha!)  Because I was so involved with …

The 12 Best Foods You Can Eat After a Workout

Don’t let all that hard work go to waste! It ain’t news, but your body uses energy when you workout. That means you need to replenish that energy within an hour or two after you’re done working out. Without food, your muscles won’t properly recover, and all your hard work could go to waste. Even a small healthy snack within 15 minutes of working out goes a long way. Here’s the 12 best foods you can snack on after a workout: 1. Water This is a no-brainer. You need to replenish with 2 to 3 glasses of water for every pound lost during a workout. 2. Dried Fruit & Nuts This is an easy on the go snack. Portable, but it packs a punch to help you replenish protein that helps you build muscles, and carbs to give you energy. 3. Bananas They are high in potassium, and bananas are high in the “good” kinds of carbs you need after a workout to help restore your body’s levels of glycogen, which helps rebuild damaged muscles. 4. Blueberries They are full of antioxidants, low in calories, and studies show that blueberries triple the rate at which your body repairs itself after an intense workout. 5. …
