Q: What makes you a LoveSurf Girl?
A: I’m absolutely in LOVE with the outdoors! I consider myself a mermaid because I basically live in the ocean! I’m very passionate about being active and making the most out of every opportunity.
I have been surfing since I was 6 years old and the minute I stood up on my first wave, I was hooked. After that I became very open minded about other outdoor activities and I’m still trying everything I can. I love living a healthy lifestyle, and I feel so much better about myself when I eat right and train hard.
Q: Tell us your story. What is a typical week for you, do you follow a strict training routine?
A: On weekdays I wake up around 6:30 and head down to the beach with a smoothie or tea as a little breakfast. Then I get in the water and surf for about 1 to 2 hours (or as much time as I can before I have to go to school!). After surfing in the morning I attend San Clemente high school for the next 5 or so hours, unless the surf is super good (shhh don’t tell my teachers!). When I get out of school I’m usually right back down at the beach.
I’ll surf for a few more hours depending on how much time I have, then I typically go workout. I train with Joe Rutland, a personal trainer here in San Clemente, two days a week. The other days I go on runs down at the beach trail. After a good trail run I’ll go surf again if the surf is fun, otherwise I’ll go paddle board or hangout with my friends.
I do my homework whenever I get home at night and eat a healthy dinner that my Dad and I cook together. I love cooking and learning from my Dad because he’s a great cook. My weekdays can change depending on what the day has to offer, but otherwise that’s my topical day. Weekends I tend to surf all day and spend some more time with my friends. My friends and I enjoy going to yoga on Sunday mornings as well!
