Britty Bardez has lived many places but now calls Cocoa Beach FL home. As a young girl, Britty was surrounded by family members and friends alike who inspired her artistically.
“It runs in my blood,” she says of her artistic nature. “ My grandmother had strong illustrative skills, my uncle was a painter, and my cousin was a trendsetter with many creative endeavors. I was introduced to an artist in Cedar Key FL at the age of 3 and we would visit her every year. She was so intriguing and eccentric and I loved seeing the new things she dreamed onto canvas. Growing up around strong independent women who made a living on their art inspired me to do the same.”
Britty attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati as well as the School for Creative and Performing Arts in downtown Cincinnati, OH. She studied visual arts and focused primarily on painting. When she moved back to Florida she discovered the world of Surf Art and created a new style which combined her former surreal techniques with an organic modern surf art vibe using seaside subjects and scenery. Britty uses mixed media such as acrylics, gel mediums, watercolor, fabric and paint marker. Pieces of reclaimed wood are transformed into colorful happy positive paintings that tell a story.
Her newest venture is a series of paintings inspired by different surf breaks which she has visited around the world. Britty has lived in 7 different states around the US , as well as abroad in the small island country of Mauritius. Of all of these places, Cocoa Beach feels most like home.
“Surf art is like my happy place, the ocean keeps me free and painting makes me centered, so each piece I create is sharing those good vibes with the viewer. It makes me feel like I’m sharing that positivity with everyone.”
