Bio: “About two months after birth, I had my feet in the sand by the ocean. The beach has been a part of my life since that very moment, and always has been. Growing up on the coast of Peru and having the ocean as my backyard made my life very connected with nature.
As a child I enjoyed body-boarding, running, playing, and doing everything I could possibly do on the beach. I participated in many sports at school, but it wasn’t till my teens that surfing took over my world. I had a great connection with the ocean and I could express myself and show my true athletic skills. I picked it up within a year, and my determination got me into the Peruvian nationals.
Two years later I was on tour on ALAS, the Latin American tour, representing my country. My parents, my school, and Rip Curl were my main sponsors at the time and they were extremely supportive.
I competed for 5 years and then I had to leave the tour because I got a scholarship to go to school in Boca Raton, Florida. I created a surf club at my university and also became part of the fashion management association. I figured skateboarding was a great alternative when there were no waves, so I picked it up as well. Not too long after graduating with my Business Management and Fashion Management degrees, I moved to California to pursue my dreams and surf.
I wanted to work for an action sports company where I could use my fashion degree and my passion for surfing. A year later my dreams came true, not only am I working for a company that I believe in, but a company that is very much connected to me.”
Q & A:
Q: What is it about you that makes you a Lovesurf Girl?
A: A love surf girl is a woman who has the same dedication to herself as to the ocean and what is around it.
The beach is a place where I always want to be and most of the activities that I do all revolve around it. My everyday activities include surfing, hiking, doing some yoga at the beach and going for an evening run on the San Clemente trails. I take care of myself by eating healthy, doing exercises to help me improve my surfing skills as well as my well-being.
I spend the same amount of time cleaning the beach as I do relaxing with friends when I’m there. The beach is my life, surfing is my passion, and being physically active is my lifestyle.
Q:What is a typical week for you? Do you follow a strict training routine?
A: A typical week for me includes my five favorite physical activities as well as social activities. My five favorite activities are surfing, hiking, yoga, running and skateboarding. I tend to keep myself on a schedule around surfing, but it is sometimes hard because waves are not always consistent. I will usually start three of the weekdays hiking in the morning before work. We have a lot of great hiking trails in Southern California. I end my days surfing or if there are no waves, I end it with yoga at the beach. On weekends I usually surf twice a day and usually end my day hiking or skateboarding with the local girls. Yes, I would say I am strict about sticking to a routine and I also make sure to be active seven days a week. I usually eat very healthy; I stick to vegetables, protein, fruits, unprocessed foods and yogurt. There is nothing better than eating healthy, taking care of your body, and have a positive outlook in life.
